Through fun, targeted games, students gain the confidence and tools to grow the creative side of their brains. Teachers with any level of improvisation from none at all to experienced jammers will find this course valuable for its emphasis on how to teach improvisation. Even if you have no experience improvising, you'll learn how to start nurturing your own creative voice alongside your students. While most of the games are rooted in classical music traditions, the course also takes forays into Blues, Jazz and world music. This course is very dynamic. All participants will play the same games the students play. Asking questions and discussing pedagogical concepts is encouraged. At the end of the course, you'll receive a resources handout on Google docs and a teaching video playlist on YouTube. You'll also be invited in perpetuity to occasional online jams with other dedicated teachers like you! What you'll need: your instrument (a keyboard will be available for pianists, please indicate this option on our registration) note-taking materials an open mind
The total course fee is $75, due at the time of registration.
